Ella is approximately 200 kilometers east of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 1,041 meters above sea level. The area has a rich biodiversity, dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. The town has a cooler climate than surrounding lowlands, due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows scenic views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka. You can take a hike at Little Adam’s Peak or Ella Rock. Visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge surrounded by lush greenery and tea fields. Try the Flying Zip line if you love adventure. It’s over 500m long and travels at over 80km per hour. Visit Lipton Seat which gives a stunning viewpoint named after the pioneer of tea in Sri Lanka, Thomas Lipton. There are plenty of restaurants that serve a range of local and western foods at a reasonable price.
